These textiles are a part of our 100% Made in Kenya collection and were printed in Kenya on Kenyan grown cotton. The print was designed by Shadé Akanbi. Raised in the Bay Area, Shadé credits her Nigerian-American upbringing and extensive international travels as her main creative influences for designing. Now based in Brooklyn, Shadé is the Creative Director and Designer of Printed Pattern People and it's a true joy to be able to share her work with you!

I knew immediately I’d love this print just from the online photos. I usually don’t favor the short sleeved tops because of their boxy cut, but when the fabric is amazing I’ll go for it.
I tried this on together with the matching shorts. I am definitely not the same size in the shorts with this set. I’m wearing my usual L size in the short sleeved shirt and the shorts I went up two sizes to a 1X.
I have wider hips and an apple belly and the L as well as the XL short did not even want to go past my hips comfortably so I didn’t even try to force them on. I usually wear a size 14W or 16 in pants. The 1X shorts were just right in that they were comfortable even in the waistband. No digging in the stomach area.
I definitely prefer to wear this as separates. Worn together gives me too much of a pajama vibe. Or resort wear to the beach. I took home the shirt! Note that the pattern can differ slightly from shirt to shirt. I tried two size L shirts and one had the yellow stripes more prominent while the other had the blue panels more noticeable.
